    It's also worth looking at open source alternatives before paying for software. OpenOffice is great alternative to Microsoft Office and GIMP is a usable (but somewhat confusing) Photoshop alternative. There's a great website called Ninite (http://ninite.com/) that allows you to check what software you want and it will automatically install it for you.

    Very good list of resources. However, are these only for US based students or can international students also get discounts? It’s expensive being a student everywhere and so it would be nice if all of us could get a discount.
