SAN DIEGO – July 30, 2010 – ValoreBooks, one of the nation’s largest online marketplaces to rent, buy and sell college textbooks for great prices, announced today the official launch of its textbook rental service.
The company pledges to offer the widest selection and lowest rental prices available to students with the promise to not be undersold by competitors.
“Adding rentals to our fast-growing textbook marketplace is a game changer for us,” says Bobby Brannigan, CEO of ValoreBooks. “We look forward to not only providing students’ savings, but greater freedom, superior service and more options for textbook shopping this year.”
ValoreBooks’ rental service is backed by the company’s new “Extra Mile Guarantee.” This promise includes free shipping for any rental order over $20, next-day air delivery, 30-day hassle-free returns and fast, same-day customer service.
“Every time we add a new service, we learn more,” said Brannigan. “Studying the competition and seeing what works and what doesn’t, has helped us create the best rental experience in the industry. We continue to look out for the best interest of students first.”

Nice tip. Getting Books online is the way to go. College bookstores are waaaay too expensive. Renting books is a smart option.
Within a few years, it will be all about E-books.
Here is an article I wrote just the other day about it

True. Renting is so much cheaper, and yet, no matter how many times I try to tell some of my friends that, I still find them going to College bookstores and wasting money.
I liked your article btw.

Side note: I don't know why but I never really understood Valorebooks and I have used it maybe once or twice in the past four years. I remember once trying to sell a book and it was just so complicated that I never went back. I hope things have changed…
Now in regards to renting, well Chegg is already on top of the rest, so I am not sure how successful Valorebooks will be. As much as I want to get rid of books as soon as I am done with them, I really still would rather buy than rent. The whole idea just doesn't click with me. Maybe the idea will catch on as I enter grad school when books typically get even more expensive.
